IMF Projects Steady Growth for Mexico’s Economy Through 2027

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected a steady growth trajectory for Mexico’s economy, with its gross domestic product (GDP) expected to increase by 1.5% in 2026 and 1.8% in 2027. These revised forecasts are underpinned by the country’s expanding export sector and stable investment climate, although potential trade uncertainties could hinder economic progress.

Mexico’s economic outlook has been bolstered by robust exports, particularly in computers and electronic components, reflecting strong demand from the United States for data center infrastructure and artificial intelligence technologies. The nation’s manufacturing capabilities and entrenched North American supply chains have significantly enhanced its stature as a key supplier of technology products.

While the macroeconomic environment in Mexico remains largely stable, the IMF has flagged the ongoing uncertainty tied to the renewal of the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA) as a potential risk factor for future growth. This uncertainty could impact trade dynamics and economic activity in the region.

Inflation in Mexico is anticipated to reach 3.8% by the end of 2026, slightly exceeding the Bank of Mexico’s target of 3%. Despite these inflationary pressures, the IMF remains optimistic, forecasting that external demand will continue to play a supportive role in driving the Mexican economy forward.
